ΑΝΑΚΟΙΝΩΣΗ ΤΥΠΟΥ: ΕΚΤΑΚΤΗ ΓΕΝΙΚΗ ΣΥΝΕΛΕΥΣΗ

Η Ελληνική Κοινότητα Τορόντο έχει καλέσει τα μέλη της σε ΓΕΝΙΚΗ ΣΥΝΕΛΕΥΣΗ το Σάββατο 15 Ιουνίου στις 2:30 μ.μ. στο Πολυμενάκειο κέντρο.

 Δυστυχώς αυτή η Γενική Συνέλευση θα είναι μία από τις πιό κρίσιμες συνελεύσεις της Κοινότητας στα 104 χρόνια ιστορίας της. Οι Διοικήσεις της ΕΚΤ τα τελευταία 3 χρόνια παλεύουν να διορθώσουν τα τραγικά σφάλματα των προηγούμενων 10 χρόνων που έφεραν την Κοινότητα στο χείλος το γκρεμού. Και το κάνουν αυτό με «νύχια και με δόντια» σε καθημερινή βάση.

 Η Ελληνική Κοινότητα Τορόντο και το συμβούλιο της βρίσκονται στην δύσκολη θέση επιπλέον εκποίησης μέρους της περιουσίας της και μάλιστα ενός από τους Ιερούς Ναούς της. Κανείς δεν θέλει να πάρει μιά τετοια απόφαση, αλλά δυστυχώς δεν υπάρχουν άλλες επιλογές.

 Εάν πραγματικά θέλουμε να προστατέψουμε τον Οργανισμό που γαλούχησε χιλιάδες Ελληνόπουλα στα σχολεία του, στα χορευτικά του και να συνεχίσει να προσφέρει τις υπηρεσίες που προσφέρει εδώ και 104 χρόνια στην παροικία, η απόφαση αυτή είναι και θα πρέπει να είναι όλου του Ελληνισμού.

 Καλούμε όλους αυτούς που μόχθησαν γιά το κτίσιμο της Κοινότητας, αυτούς που αγάπησαν και συνεχίζουν να την αγαπούν, να είναι παρόντες στην Γενική Συνέλευση στις 15 Ιουνίου. Δεν είναι ώρα να αποδοθούν ευθύνες αλλά να σώσουμε την Κοινότητα που εσείς δημιουργήσατε από το υστέρημα σας.

 ΑΣ ΜΗΝ ΑΚΟΛΟΥΘΗΣΟΥΜΕ ΤΟ ΠΑΡΑΔΕΙΓΜΑ ΑΥΤΏΝ ΠΟΥ «ΠΗΔΗΞΑΝ ΑΠΟ ΤΟ ΚΑΡΑΒΙ». ΤΟ ΚΑΡΑΒΙ ΠΡΕΠΕΙ ΝΑ ΤΟ ΟΔΗΓΗΣΟΥΜΕ ΣΕ ΗΡΕΜΑ ΝΕΡΑ.

 For Immediate Release

The Greek Community of Toronto (GCT) is inviting all of its members to a Special General Meeting Saturday, June 15th at 2:30 pm at the Polymenakion Center, 30 Thorncliffe Park Drive, Toronto.

 Unfortunately this General Assembly will be one of the most critical assemblies of the Community's 104 year history. The management of the GCT in the last three years has struggled to correct the tragic mistakes of the previous 10 years administrations that brought the GCT to the edge of a fiscal cliff.

 The Board of Directors of the GCT are in a difficult position and on June 15^th the Board is asking the General Membership for authorization to sell one of the churches of the GCT.  No one wishes to take such an action but unfortunately all other options have been exhausted.

If you really want to protect the organization that nurtured and taught thousands of Greek-Canadian children in schools and if you want the GCT to continue to offer the services it has offered for 104 years in the community this decision should be made by all Greek-Canadians.

We invite all those who have labored for building the Greek Community of Toronto, those who have loved and continue to love the GCT, to be present at the Special General Meeting on June 15^th.

This is not the time to place blame on groups or individuals but to save the Greek Community of Toronto, the Community that you created.

By coming to the Special General Meeting you will show those who have "jumped ship” that there are people who believe and want to guide the “ship” into calm waters.

3.  Έγκριση της πρότασης του Δ.Σ., για την αντιμετώπιση της οικονομικής κρίσης, συμπεριλαμβανομένης και τηv πώληση ακίνητης περιουσίας (Άρθρο 1, τμήμα 2.06 του Καταστατικού).

4.  Έγκριση του προυπολογισμού για το οικονομικό έτος 2013-2014.
